
If you are like me, you are always thinking about how you can increase the effectiveness of your mathematics lessons. How can I make last year's (yesterday's) lesson on fractions easier to understand? How can I increase the likelihood that students will remember that lesson?
Well, I have used a tool that has shown to be effective both in practice and by research. This tool allows me to actively consider a few questions while I plan my lesson. I allows me to properly apply the 8 domains of effective mathematics teaching practices as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
